This guide is fairly technical and it is expected that you have relevant knowledge on the subject area.
Requirements
1. Active domain name
2. Cloudflare account (free to use)
JetWebinar allows you to use your own domain and 'whitelabel' your JetWebinar meetings and webinars so that they appear to be coming from your own website. This is only available for plans with 'whitelabel' feature. The custom domain name feature is enabled upon request - please open a support ticket to do so.
A DNS entry has two parts, a 'Subdomain' - this is the word or subdomain that will appear before your domain name, and your domain name itself (your-company.com). So, for example, if your domain name is www.your-company.com, and you want the subdomain to be webinar.your-company.com, then the name would be 'webinar'.
You will also need to know your JetWebinar login URL - for example, your-company.jetwebinar.com.
Recommendation: If your current domain name has existing content on it and you don't want to move its nameservers to Cloudflare, it is recommended that you purchase a new one just for this purpose. You may choose a different top-level domain (TLD) with your same brand, for example instead of using your-company.com, you may get your-company.net which will be used for all your webinars.
Step #1 - CNAME Configuration via JetWebinar
- Log in to your Account Dashboard. (This assumes that you have already contacted support for CNAME activation.)
- Click on 'My Account' along the top bar, then click on 'Settings'.
- In the Custom Domain Name (CNAME) section, enter the subdomain you want to join (webinar.your-company.com). DO NOT ADD https:// or http://.
- Hit 'Save'.
Step #2 - SSL/TLS Termination Using Cloudflare
Modern browsers require that all connections go through a secure layer using a SSL/TLS certificate. The easiest way to accomplish this is by signing up in Cloudflare. At this point, you would need to transfer your DNS records to Cloudflare and you would be changing your domain's NAMESERVERS to their records.
- Logon to cloudflare.com and sign-up for a free account.
- Click on "Add a website or application" if you are a new user, or "Add a site" for existing users.
- Enter your domain name. Select the Free tier on the next window to continue.
- Allow Cloudflare to scan for existing DNS records and press continue. If you found anything here missing, simply add them on this window.
- You will be provided with two nameserver records. You have to copy these and set this up as your domain's authoritative nameservers on where you purchased your domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Porkbun etc.).
So for example, we're heading over to Porkbun.com to set our new nameservers.
Then go back to Cloudflare and click on "Check Nameservers now". This would automatically email you when your domain is ready for use. - Once your nameservers have been resolved and verified by Cloudflare (this may take up to 24 hours). Logon to Cloudflare again, select your domain name, click on DNS > Records at the left side panel. Then here you would be adding a new CNAME record which you've setup in Step #1. Keep "Proxy Status" as enabled.
- Press Save. Then click on SSL/TLS > Overview. Set encryption mode to Full.
- You're done!
Step #3 - Use your Custom Domain
Most DNS entries update very quickly, but can take up to 48 hours to fully propagate worldwide.
Once it is ready, please use your custom name to login to your dashboard and when sending webinar URLs to your attendees. This will ensure that the custom domain name is used throughout the platform. You may still use your original JetWebinar URL to remove your custom domain name in the future.
As always, let us know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions by sending us an email to support@jetwebinar.com or clicking on the 'Submit a Request' button along the top.
Thank you for choosing JetWebinar!
